Click Account (upper right of page) > Privacy Settings.
Click Friends Only and then click Apply Settings.
Click Customize Settings and change "Places I check in to" to Only Me. uncheck the box for "Include me in "People Here Now" after I check in".
In the second section "Things others share" change "Photos and videos I'm tagged in" to Only Me. Change the "Friends can check me in to Places" to disabled by clicking the [Edit Settings] button.
In the bottom section "Contact information" next to your email address click the [Friends Only] drop down button and click Custom. Select to make this visible to Only Me.
